I was born in Norway and I am now living in Kenya with my husband and two children. Both my academic and professional background is in "development". I have lived in three African countries since 1996, and I have worked for many years implementing aid projects for international NGOs and the UN. However, my belief is that what poor people need is opportunity, more than charity.

With Mikono Knits my purpose is to provide a sustainable business opportunity for Kenyan women to improve their livelihoods. The success of Mikono Knits is not measured in the profit it makes, but to what extent the business has had a positive impact in the community. I also believe that ethical fashion can be stylish and of good quality.
